Both symbolism and album cover design are main interests of mine, especially when combined. The original cover for Ariana Grande’s ‘Eternal Sunshine’ certainly complements the music contained. However, with the lyrics being so rich with symbolism, I wanted to create my own interpretation.

As the album felt very personal, I had the idea of making the cover appear like a journal/scrapbook; this idea also allowed me to demonstrate the theme of lost time.

Another interpreted theme was a craving for control over what memories are kept and what are forgotten. To represent this, I’ve created gaps where pictures seem to have been removed. The photographs and keepsakes ‘remaining’ each point to specific references and symbolic meanings that correspond with the album’s lyrics and music videos.
